Syria – Jordan 400 KV Interconnection / Siemens PTD
Project Overview
Deir Ali: New 400 KV conventional substation with 3 diameters (3 OHL feeders and 2 Transformer feeders), 2×300 MVA power transformers, shunt reactors and capacitors. Dimas: New 400 KV Conventional substation with 2 diameters, 2×300 MVA transformers, shunt reactors and capacitors. Kisweh: Extension of existing 230 KV substation by one feeder. Dimas & Deir Ali Extension: one additional 400 KV diameter per each substation.
The Challenge
Establishing a reliable high-voltage interconnection while ensuring grid stability and power quality. The project required extensive coordination between the two countries' power authorities, each with different operational practices, technical standards, and regulatory frameworks, while simultaneously constructing and extending multiple substations.
Our Solution
We designed and installed a robust interconnection system using Siemens advanced technology with dedicated project teams for each substation. Advanced protection coordination studies were conducted to guarantee faults in one system would not propagate to the other.
